Bright Spots and Dark Zones

Fatherless is set three decades in the future when the United States joins the rest of the developed world in severe financial decline because the economic pyramid has flipped.  Too few young are bearing the burden of a rapidly aging population.  One of our main characters tries to convince skeptical politicians to advocate what he calls “bright spots” in the midst of dismal economic and cultural clouds.  He explains that the generally despised “Breeders” (married couples with kids) are vital engines to economic and social stability.  This fictional future is based upon the real-world trajectory of current demographic, economic, legal and cultural trends.  Periodic “Be a Bright Spot” blog entries will showcase how to be part of the solution and expose the shadowy influence of dark zone movements.
